HIGHLIGHT

We worked closely with the building management team to phase the work completing all tasks outside of school operating hours.

Project overview

Assist PFP was appointed to carry out a full fire-stopping and compartmentation upgrade at his school in Nantwich. The project required extensive remedial works to bring the property into line with the latest fire safety standards, all completed while the building remained fully operational.

The challenge

A recent fire risk assessment had identified multiple areas of non-compliance, 26 penetrations including poorly sealed service penetrations and damaged fire barriers. The building’s tenants needed to remain in place during the works, so the project required careful planning to minimise disruption while maintaining a safe environment, all the fire stopping works and door installs were done out of hours in the evenings between 4-11pm and during school holidays. A high Fire wall curtain was installed in the sports hall.

Our solution

Assist PFP carried out a detailed fire-stopping survey to map all compartment lines and identify defects. Our technicians then installed new fire doors, fire door foam and Rockwool Mastic. Installed a firefly curtain in the sports hall. We worked closely with the building management team to phase the work completing all tasks outside of school operating hours.

Results

  • Full compliance achieved

  • 26 service penetrations correctly sealed

  • Zero disruption to building operations

  • Positive feedback from both the school and management
