Project overview
Assist PFP was appointed to carry out a full fire-stopping and compartmentation review and upgrade roof compartmentation in an old listed building at this retirement village in Wiltshire. The project required extensive remedial works to bring the property into line with the latest fire safety standards, all completed while the building remained fully operational.
The challenge
A recent fire risk assessment had identified multiple areas of non-compliance. The building’s tenants needed to remain in place during the works, so the project required careful planning to minimise disruption while maintaining a safe environment. One of the buildings was listed which presented issues with removing old fire prevention measures. The roof compartmentation was for the communal corridors. Part of the works required carpet and floor to be removed and then replaced after so it was essential that all residents were fully briefed to minimise disruption.
Our solution
Assist PFP carried out a detailed fire-stopping survey to map all compartment lines and identify defects. Our technicians then installed new rockwool fire curtains, fire line boards, Batt and mastic seals and new fire door sets, ensuring each zone met required compartmentation standards. We worked closely with the building management team and residents. We have since carried out further Fire Prevention Work for RVG at other sites managed by the group.
Results
Full compliance achieved
Minimal disruption to residents
Positive feedback from both residents and management
